Goal
To promote protection of valuable river ecosystems in the Baltic Sea Region from exploitation with dams and hydropower and to increase the awareness on the ecological consequences of dam constructions and hydropower on Baltic river ecosystems.

Activities
CCB has identified, since 2001, the upcoming threats from planned constructions of hydro-electric power stations and dams in the Baltic Sea region, and started coordinated activities. The aggregated impact of hydro-power and dams, in many Baltic Sea Region countries, compose a region-wide threat to valuable river eco-systems in the Baltic Sea Region and its biodiversity, e g fish species. CCB will encourage a wise and sustainable utilization of Baltic rivers and its natural resources.
