What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. Description
The Fourth Meeting of the ad hoc HELCOM Platform on sufficiency of measures (SOM Platform 4-2020) has been held as an online meeting on 15 September 2020. The Meeting started at 10:00 and ended at 18:00 on Tuesday 15 September 2020 (EEST, UTC+3).
The SOM Platform 4-2020 meeting considered and discussed the results of the SOM analysis, including how to use them in the BSAP update process and present them as part of the BSAP update background material. In addition, the meeting considered the follow-up of the BSAP UP workshops and gave guidance on the cost-effectiveness analysis and how the results should be considered by the Working Groups.
