What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. HELCOM has held online the 3rd Meeting of the Biodiversity segment team for drafting the updated Baltic Sea Action Plan on the 01.03.2021 from 09:00 to 16:00 CET.
