The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is a membership Union
uniquely composed of both government and civil society organisations. It provides public, private and non-governmental organisations with the knowledge and tools that enable human progress, economic development and nature conservation to take place together. Created in 1948, IUCN has evolved into the world’s largest and most diverse environmental network. It harnesses the experience, resources and reach of its 1,300 Member organisations and the input of some 13,000 experts. IUCN is the global authority on the status of the natural world and the measures needed to safeguard it.
Description
CCB is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, IUCN, and participates in the meetings of the National Swedish Committee which take place twice per year.
This meeting was held in Stockholm, Sweden on 22 February 2023. CCB was represented at the meeting by Andrea Cervantes, CCB Biodiversity Officer.
The meeting focused on:
- the update of the activities and outcomes of the COP 15 and the Kunming Montreal Biodiversity Framework.
- the update about the work of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency on their work on IAS.
Outcomes of the event:
We provided an update CCB's activities and achievements regarding conservation of biodiversity. We also contributed to ideas for the possibility of joint collaboration for environmental work with young groups in Sweden.
