2022-ongoing
CCB collaborates with Ukrainian environmental organizations in Green Recovery efforts in Ukraine.
After the Russian invasion started on February 24th, 2022, CCB has clearly expressed its stand for the right to exist in peace for both our Ukrainian and Russian colleagues. Nature is our common value and language of dialogue, and we condemn any kind of violence and aggression in any form it occurs.
CCB as a network of NGOs was created in 1990 to join people from all countries in the Baltic Sea catchment area in a common cause: to improve our shared environment, to learn from each other and to understand each other’s culture and tradition.
For this reason, CCB collaborates since 2022 with Ukrainian environmental organizations in Green Recovery efforts for Ukraine. The CCB Member Organization Ecoterra is the coordinating partner from Ukraine.
Our focus primarily lies within the Baltic Sea Catchment Area of Ukraine and issues related to biodiversity, hazardous substances and eutrophication. Environmental problems originating in Ukraine affect the whole Baltic Sea Region and, therefore, require joint efforts to solve them.
GREEN RECOVERY PLAN
The Green Recovery Plan for Ukraine is under development in collaboration with CCB and Ukrainian NGOs.
The plan covers environmental recovery of Ukrainian territories of the Baltic Sea catchment area and is divided into three sections:
following the segments of the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan.
The document, targeted towards policy-makers, environmental organizations and actors working with environmental reconstruction of Ukraine, will be released in January 2025.
