Official meetings of all HELCOM Working and Experts Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, however, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, are organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.

Description
While official meetings and other events of all HELCOM Working and Expert Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, can be organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.
The WG BioDiv dedicated session on strict protection was online on February 12, 2025.

Outcomes of the meeting
- The meeting focused on following information on the state of play of submission of EU Biodiversity Strategy pledges by the Contracting Parties
- The EU representative recalled an online EU event recently organized on the definition of strict protection, as the discussion quickly questioned the concept and other ideas of temporal measures.
- Finally, the meeting also noted the position paper by CCB on MPAs and strictly protected areas and further noted the position paper by WWF Poland on human activities in MPAs. Both documents helped to delineate the conversation on the topic, to open discuss and consider concrete examples of strict protection and recommendations on when such examples can be laid out.
