#ASeedForReblooming
By education, Nina is a chemist-technologist. Following her passion for landscape design and flowers, in 2011 Nina and her husband, Ihor, opened the landscape studio "Ant" in Gorlivka, Donetsk Oblast.
She wanted to have her own business, not only for herself, but also for other people.
But in 2014, the armed conflict started in Eastern Ukraine. Nina and her family were forced to leave and move to the village of Oleksandrivka, where she opened the "Alexandrovsky" garden.
"We did not want to leave the Donetsk region; after all, this is our home, we are already used to it, and we love it. Everything had to start from scratch: from buying new things to a complete lifestyle change. But the village had its charm, and we liked it."
Nina and Ihor started their new business at 60 acres of own land. In 2017, with the support of few external grants, they built a polycarbonate greenhouse to grow flower and vegetable seedlings.
The greenhouse was automated and measured 20x8 m. During the first year, they planted and sold 10000 units of seedlings; during the second year, the production increased up to 15000 units.
In 2020, they were selling 15 varieties of annual plants and 4 varieties of perennials. They had many clients and decorated cafes, restaurants, boarding houses, and summer cottages.
In 2021, the second polycarbonate greenhouse was built. Along with flowers and vegetables production, Nina continued to provide landscape design services, with the plan to turn the garden center into an international model.
"Like in Germany or Netherlands, where a small piece of land becomes a blooming paradise. Millions of tourists visit such places."
But in late February 2022, her plan has been shattered. Again. After the Russian invasion in Ukraine, the military shelling destroyed Nina and her husband´s house and their greenhouse production. They had to move again, this time to a safer place in Western Ukrainian town of Rivne.
They opened a new shop called "Carrots", where they sell vegetables and fruits. Nina and Ihor want to renew their activity. The main aim of this new project is to rebuild the greenhouse and organize an all-year round vegetable production, providing high-quality and ecological products and new workplaces.
