What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. The Meeting started on Wednesday, 7 November at 9:00 and ended on Thursday 8 November 2018 by 16:00.
The Meeting was be Chaired by Ms. Heike Imhoff. The Meeting considered: - future coordination on the aspects of the revised Commission Decision on Good Environmental Status which require regional cooperation, - implementation and update of the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan, - strategic guidance on the future work on HELCOM indicators.
