Official meetings of all HELCOM Working and Experts Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, however, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, are organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.
The informal consultation sessions process and discuss documents and provide guidance and recommendations as to how to progress work.

Description
The Informal consultation workshop on phosphogypsum waste site management was hosted by Sweden, supported by Coalition Clean Baltic and John Nurminen Foundation, in Uppsala and online, on 17 October 2022.
The Workshop was attended by Denmark, Finland, Germany, Lithuania and Sweden. Observers from Coalition Clean Baltic (CCB), John Nurminen Foundation and Race for the Baltic as well as invited guests also attended the Workshop.
The Workshop was moderated by Mr. Mikhail Durkin, Executive Secretary of Coalition Clean Baltic.

Outcomes of the session:
- The Workshop took note of the NGO perspective on behalf of the CCB
pointing out the importance of carefully planned monitoring of the waste sites to have the right information on environmental effects.
