Description
In October 2022, The European Commission released update proposals for several pieces of EU legislation relevant to pharmaceuticals in the environment. These include the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, which proposes more stringent removal requirements for pharmaceutical residues, as well as risk-based prioritization of wastewater treatment plants. Furthermore, several active pharmaceutical ingredients were proposed as priority substances under the Water Framework Directive, with corresponding environmental quality standards for each.
This webinar provided regional stakeholders with a platform to raise questions and discuss the interpretation and implementation of these legislative updates. It also facilitated networking among experts across the Baltic Sea Region.
The webinar was divided into two parts: 1) Presentations on the directive updates 2) Breakout discussions in thematical groups
