The Baltic Ocean Literacy School is an educational course and platform for dialogue and exchange of good practices for ecological organizations of the Baltic Sea Region, environmental specialists, students, and eco-activists.

HISTORY OF THE PROJECT

The Baltic Ocean Literacy School is an educational course and platform for dialogue and exchange of good practices for ecological organizations of the Baltic Sea Region. The course consists of lectures, discussions, and practical workshops led by experts, citizens, and researchers.

The initiative of this event started in 2021 under the "Coastal University" project. In 2023, the name of the event changed to become the "Baltic Ocean Literacy School".

Why do we organize this course?

  • To contribute to increase literacy about the state of the Baltic Sea and the impact of human activities on marine and coastal areas;
  • To create a pool of experts and activists around CCB activities to raise awareness of the anthropogenic maritime activities in the Baltic marine ecosystems and to address the negative effects over a long-term perspective.

How the course is implemented?

The course consists of lectures, discussions, and practical workshops led by experts, citizens, and researchers.  

What are the impacts?

Participants will get from the event:

  • knowledge, tools and practical skills to implement ecological activities in their community;
  • networks and developing mapping of Maritime and coastal issues in the Baltic Sea Region with experts and organizations who work on these issues.

2023 EDITION

The first edition of this renewed initiative took place online from 17 April to 16 May 2023.
