Informal consultation session of the State & Conservation Group (IC STATE&CONSERVATION 1-2022)
Official meetings of all HELCOM Working and Experts Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, however, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, are organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.
The informal consultation sessions process and discuss documents and provide guidance and recommendations as to how to progress work.

Beskrivning

The first informal consultation session of the Working Group on the State of the Environment and Nature Conservation (IC STATE & CONSERVATION 1-2021) was convened on 9-13 May 2022 as a hybrid session with participants joining in person in Berlin, Germany, as well as via Zoom.

The Joint session was attended by delegations from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Poland and Sweden, observers from Coalition Clean Baltic and WWF Poland, as well as invited guests from Alleco and the Country Administrative Board of Sweden.

Outcomes of the session:
- The Session noted the comment from CCB that this is a key issue and they encourage CPs to work towards a solution to implement a threshold value for HOLAS 3.

- The Session took note of the view by CCB that it is regrettable that both the BSAP actions and their criteria for achievement refer to the possible effect of climate change although the effects are inevitable.
