Informal consultation session of the HELCOM Working Group on Reduction of Pressures from Sea-based Sources (IC WG SEA-BASED PRESSURES 1-2023)
Official meetings of all HELCOM Working and Experts Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, however, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, are organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.
The informal consultation sessions process and discuss documents and provide guidance and recommendations as to how to progress work.

Beskrivning

The informal consultation session of HELCOM Working Group on Reduction of Pressures from Sea-based Sources (IC SEA-BASED PRESSURES 1-2023), hosted by Finland, was held on 18-20 April 2023, in Helsinki, Finland.
The Session was attended by Delegations from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden and by Observers from CCB, INTERTANKO and WWF.

CCB participant in the session:

- Andrea Cervantes, CCB Biodiversity Officer,
- Bettina Taylor, CCB Working Area Leader Biodiversity.

Outcomes of the meeting:
- The Session took note of the information and key recommendations of a Guidance document on responsible offshore renewable energy (ORE) by WWF and CCB.
-The Session took note of a proposal by CCB that in order to put go-to areas into practice consideration could also be given to revise HELCOM Recommendations 18/2 and 17/2. The CCB proposed that another option could potentially be to amend Annex IV of the Helsinki Convention.
