Official meetings of all HELCOM Working and Experts Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, however, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, are organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.

Beskrivning
While official meetings and other events of all HELCOM Working and Expert Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, can be organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.
The informal consultation workshop on land-sea interactions – linking coastal water management to the BSAP hosted by Sweden was held online on 17 January 2024.

Outcomes of the meeting
The workshop gathered knowledge and experiences on how countries have tackled, using modelling or other approaches, the challenges of coastal water management under the WFD and its relations to open sea MAI-NIC. From these experiences, key knowledge gaps were identified and the next steps such as the drafting of a project proposal, were further discussed. The research experiences presented in the workshop were considered against their policy relevance.
