HELCOM – 7th Meeting of the Ad hoc Drafting Group for the Updated Baltic Sea

The Seventh Meeting of the Ad hoc Drafting Group for the Updated Baltic Sea Action Plan was held online on, 15 June 2021 from 9:00 to 16:00 CET.

What is HELCOM?

The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area, consisting of ten Contracting Parties, namely Denmark, Estoniathe European UnionFinlandGermanyLatviaLithuaniaPolandRussia and Sweden.  HELCOM is the governing body of the Helsinki Convention and a platform for environmental policy making at the regional level. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. The HELCOM Secretariat is located in Helsinki, Finland. To know more about it.
