HELCOM – Ministerial Meeting 2021

The HELCOM Ministerial Meeting 2021 was held in Lübeck on the 20.10.2021.

Nils Höglund, CCB’s Policy Officer, attended the meeting. Bettina Taylor, Stefanie Sudhaus and Nadja Ziebarth who work for BUND participated to the event on behalf of CCB. Mikhail Durkin, CCB Executive Secretary, and Federica Pastore CCB Communication officer attended the meeting.

What is HELCOM?

The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area, consisting of ten Contracting Parties, namely Denmark, Estoniathe European UnionFinlandGermanyLatviaLithuaniaPolandRussia and Sweden.  HELCOM is the governing body of the Helsinki Convention and a platform for environmental policy making at the regional level. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. The HELCOM Secretariat is located in Helsinki, Finland. To know more about it.
