What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. The 54th Meeting of the Heads of Delegation was held at the premises of the HELCOM Secretariat (Katajanokanlaituri 6 B) in Helsinki, Finland.
The Meeting started on Thursday, 14 June at 9.30 o’clock and ended on Friday, 15 June by 16.00 o’clock.
The Meeting was opened by the Chair of the Helsinki Commission.
