HELCOM and the INTERREG Project “EcoDesign Circle” organised a common workshop on ecodesign and marine litter on 15 June 2018 in Berlin, Germany. The aim was to identify entry points for prevention and reduction of marine litter in the Baltic Sea on a design level and to support the implementation of the HELCOM Regional Action Plan on Marine Litter.
Almost 30 participants from design, industry, research, authorities and civil society took part in this event, including a CCB representative, Suma Maria, from the
Center for Environmental Solutions
(Belarus).
The workshop, facilitated by Ms. Anne Raudaskoski (Ethica Finland), was organised in plenary and breakout groups and included presentations with question-and-answer sessions as well as interactive group exercises. These exercises were intended as interdisciplinary teamwork:
- to deduce generalizable results from illustrative, product-related case studies,
- to identify points of common agreements or disagreements and
- to exchange experiences.
The workshop was set against the backdrop of the ‘Circular Design Forum’ – an international conference which took place on 14.06.2018 in Berlin, Germany, which was an activity of “EcoDesign Circle”.
