What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. On the 08 February from 9am to 1pm CET, HELCOM held the online first meeting of the Drafting Group of the Regional Action Plan on Underwater Noise.
Bettina Taylor who works for BUND participated to the event on behalf of CCB. Mikhail Durkin CCB’s Executive Secretary also took part in the meeting.
