What is HELCOM?
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission – also known as the Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) – is an intergovernmental organization (IGO) and a regional sea convention in the Baltic Sea area. HELCOM was established about four decades ago to protect the marine environment of the Baltic Sea from all sources of pollution through intergovernmental cooperation. On the 29.04.2021 from 9:00 to 16:00 CET was held online the 4th Meeting of the Sea-based activities segment team for drafting the updated Baltic Sea Action Plan.
Bettina Taylor who works for BUND participated to the event on behalf of CCB. Mikhail Durkin CCB’s Executive Secretary and Nils Höglund CCB’s Policy Officer, also took part in the meeting.
