While official meetings of all HELCOM Working and Expert Groups and other subsidiary bodies are postponed due to the HELCOM strategic pause until further notice, informal consultation sessions, without Russian participation, can be organized and hosted by a Contracting Party.
The informal consultation session of the HELCOM IC BIODIV 4-2024 was hosted online on 7-10 October 2024.

Outcomes of the meeting- During the three days, there were highly topical matters being analysed, such as “How to ensure space for nature outside of protected areas: using green infrastructure, blue corridors, and OECMs to ensure coherence” and the role of MSP in conservation efforts.
- As a consequence of the MANET workshop earlier that year, it was proposed to work on updating the MPA guidelines.
- In the frame of the project PROTECT BALTIC, CCB was invited to present the overview of all MPAs reports from the PROTECT BALTIC.
- CCB also presented to the Session, the ongoing work and new updates about the harvesting and trainees of CCB. Indeed, CCB is working on gathering all available and declared information relating to management activities of the different MPA in the Baltic region, mainly through so-called MPA management plans, to support the elaboration of specific tools and analysis under WP6 (Management Effectiveness, Sufficiency of Measures) and WP8 (MPA Portal).
